Job summary

Federal Express Corporation is seeking a motivated Yard Switcher/Package Handler to move trailers and circular yard activities. Responsibilities include hooking and moving trailers, coordinating with central control, and documenting moves.

The role involves hand loading/unloading, lifting and sorting packages, and following safety procedures. Prior experience is not required, but DOT compliance and a valid driver’s license are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions regarding duties and safety.
• Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment for package handling.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; work well in a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

• Performs trailer switches from yard to a door and back.
• Communicates with management to coordinate trailer movements.
• Documents trailer moves using the Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Adheres to yard safety processes and procedures.
• Loads and unloads packages by hand.
• Lifts and transports packages for two to four-hour shifts.
• Sorts packages by scanning labels and numbers.
