Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a Trailer Mechanic to service trailers, heavy equipment, and industrial assets to ensure safe operation and regulatory compliance.

In this role you will perform repairs, preventive maintenance, and safety inspections, document parts usage, and maintain accurate maintenance records. We offer 3 weeks PTO, medical/dental/vision plans including an HSA with employer contribution & match, a 401(k) with employer match, and paid holidays.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of trailer maintenance and repair experience.
• Practical experience with trailer electrical systems; welding experience is a plus.
• Ownership of personal tools suitable for the position.
• High School diploma or GED.
• Ability to work 40–50 hours per week, including overtime and occasional Saturdays.
• Knowledge of DOT/ OSHA and relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs on trailers, including wiring, brakes, wheel seals, electrical systems, ABS, and welding as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance: oil changes, lubrication, tune-ups, filter replacements, tire rotations, and minor adjustments.
• Complete required paperwork for vehicle repairs, document parts usage and repair times.
• Conduct safety inspections and report equipment deterioration for repair or replacement.
• Maintain accurate, updated preventive maintenance records.
• Assist other mechanics with repairs and projects as assigned by the supervisor.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with OSHA standards and ensure tools/equipment are safe.
