Job summary

Metro Mini Storage is seeking a hands-on Trailer Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain our trailer fleet. You will perform preventive maintenance, DOT-related repairs, brake and suspension work, electrical troubleshooting, and door/floor/roof repairs, all while ensuring safety and compliance.

The ideal candidate has experience with trailer or heavy equipment repair, a commitment to quality workmanship, and the ability to work safely in a shop or yard with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience as trailer, diesel, heavy equipment mechanic, or similar role.
• Knowledge of trailer systems (brakes, suspension, air systems, lighting, electrical, tires, structure).
• Able to safely use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic and shop equipment.
• Able to read and follow repair orders, inspection forms, and maintenance procedures.
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles/equipment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair trailers including brakes, suspension, air systems, lighting, and doors.
• Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections per DOT requirements.
• Complete repairs accurately to minimize downtime.
• Document work performed, parts used, and inspection results.
• Coordinate with supervisors and parts personnel to prioritize repairs.
• Conduct final safety checks before returning trailers to service.
• Maintain clean, organized, safe work area.
• Assist with welding, fabrication, or road service calls as needed.
