Job summary

UPS Supply Chain Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Trailer Mechanic in Middletown, PA to perform preventive maintenance on UPS transportation trailers and converter dollies.

The role requires diagnosing and repairing non‑power equipment, including air brake and electrical systems, with a focus on safety and efficiency. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of trailer repair experience, carries a valid license (CDL A or B preferred), and brings a complete set of personal tools.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of tractor/trailer repair experience.
• CDL Class A or B - Preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be 21+ years old.
• Must have standard tools to perform repairs.
• Experience with brakes, tires, bodywork, welding or other non‑power repairs.

Responsibilities

• Meet DOT requirements and safety standards.
• Assist in maintenance and repairs on trailers and dolly units.
• Able to lift up to 70 pounds and move packages up to 150 pounds.
• Work multiple shifts including 2nd or 3rd shift as needed.
• Maintain proper housekeeping and safety practices on site.

Job Description:

Trailer Mechanic will perform preventative maintenance on UPS Transportation Trailers and Converter Dollies. Will properly diagnose and perform necessary repairs to non-power equipment, including air brake systems and electrical systems.

Ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Current documented trailer or automotive mechanic experience. Trailer repair experience, dealership environments and/or fleet maintenance environments.
• Experience using diagnostic equipment, scan tools and personal computer
• Possess a full complement of personal hand tools

Requirements:

• Must be 21yrs of age or older
• Must have a valid driver’s license – issued by the state
• Must have standard tools
• Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience: tractor, trailers, brakes, tires, bodywork, welding, non-power.
• Must be able to work 2nd or 3rd shift, Monday to Friday or Tuesday to Saturday.
• CDL Class A or B - Preferred

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Meet D.O.T requirements
• Bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb ladders and stairs, stand, walk, and turn/pivot frequently throughout the duration of the workday
• Report to work on a regular and timely basis and complete the scheduled workday on a consistent basis
• Ability to work varying shifts, additional hours and/or overtime depending on service needs
• Sitting required infrequently throughout the duration of the workday
• Lift, lower, push, pull, leverage and manipulate equipment and/or packages weighing up to 70 pounds
• Assist in moving packages or equipment up to 150 pounds
• Simple hand grasping, power hand grasping, fine hand manipulation, reaching from foot level to above shoulder level as necessary to complete assigned tasks
• Operate standard/manual transmission
• Operate power, pneumatic tools
• Required to wear personal protective equipment
• Work in an environment with variable temperatures and humidity (climatic conditions), exposure to cleaning materials, petroleum products, dust, dirt, and noise, outside inclement weather
• Have a sufficient ability to communicate, through sight, hearing, and/or otherwise, to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The starting pay rate for this position is $39.04 per hour with a 120 days progression to top pay $40.04. For union-represented postings, wage rates and ranges and benefit offerings are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions.

Hired applicants are eligible for weekly pay, extensive training, 401(K), defined-benefit pension plan, medical-dental and vision after waiting and or probation period, $0 healthcare premium, paid vacation, paid sick and family and medical leave time as required by law, paid holidays, discounted employee stock purchase program.
