Job summary

McLane Co. is seeking a Mechanic II to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on trailer refrigeration and diesel systems. You will diagnose, repair, align wheels, brakes, transmissions, and perform complex mechanical and electrical work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; trade school in heavy diesel repairs/refrigeration preferred.
• 2 years' experience in diesel repairs, tractor-trailer, refrigeration maintenance and repairs.
• 1 year documented fleet maintenance experience or 1 year with the company at upper Class C Technician scale.
• Valid Class C driver's license; Class A preferred but not required.
• ASE PMI certification (T8) or equivalent; Refrigeration certifications (608/609) and heavy-duty electrical diagnostics are valued.

Responsibilities

• Perform Grade 4 mechanic duties and preventative maintenance on trailers and refrigeration.
• Carry out simple and complex mechanical and electrical repairs.
• Diagnose, remove/repair/replace components such as clutches, water pumps, tires, suspensions, transmissions, brakes.
• Read service bulletins and maintain shop tools and paperwork.
• Operate shop equipment and comply with safety rules.
• Be flexible for on-call rotation and road calls with company vehicle.
