Job summary

Davidson Logistics in Bridgeton, Missouri is seeking a skilled Trailer Mechanic to join our hands-on maintenance team. You will repair and rebuild 48ft and 53ft trailers, perform preventive maintenance, and support our operations with reliable, quality repairs.

The ideal candidate has strong welding and fabrication skills, owns their own tools, and can pass a background check, drug screen, and physical ability test.

Qualifications

• 3 years of diesel service education and technical experience
• 5 years' experience in general heavy truck repair, automotive repair or equipment repair
• Must possess a strong work ethic and good problem-solving skills
• Must have own tools
• Regular and reliable attendance
• Ability to read, write and speak in English
• Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
• Ability to think logically and keep up with changes in technology
• Successfully pass background check, drug screen, and physical ability test
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and inspection criteria

Responsibilities

• Has a fundamental understanding of repairing and rebuilding components on 48ft. and 53ft. dry van trailers
• Able to thoroughly perform Preventative Maintenance inspections and repairs
• Maintains a high level of welding and metal fabrication skills
• Performs service calls
• Washes and fuels equipment when necessary
• Road tests vehicles to ensure quality repair services were performed
• Pro-actively assists, guides and directs junior technicians
• Be a leading participant in the care and upkeep of the shop, the grounds and all equipment and tools
• Maintains a clean, safe environment that complies to OSHA and company standards
• Proficient in recording all work and labor on a computer in the EMS system
• Works with the Parts Department to assure that all necessary materials, parts, service and shop supplies are maintained at proper quantity levels
• Works in compliance to EPA regulations as well as DOT and company safety requirements
• Performs other maintenance duties or assignments when necessary
• Other duties as assigned
