Job summary

Saia Inc. is seeking a trailer mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair trailers used for transporting goods. You will service, inspect, and repair tractor-trailers, diagnose failures on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, and test trailers after repairs to ensure safe operation.

The position requires at least a high school diploma or GED, the ability to read, write and communicate in English, and to be 18 years or older. You must provide and maintain your own maintenance tools.

Responsibilities

• Services, inspects, and repairs tractor-trailers.
• Diagnoses failures and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on a trailer.
• Uses hydraulic jacks and hoists to access the underside of trailers.
• Conducts full inspections of trailers to identify issues.
• Tests trailers after repairs to ensure safe operation.
• Maintains a detailed record of service and maintenance activities.
• Repairs defective parts such as brakes, tires, axles, wiring, and hydraulic systems.
