Job summary

Saia Inc. is seeking a trailer mechanic to maintain, diagnose and repair tractor-trailers. You will inspect systems, perform repairs, and document service activities with a focus on safety and reliability.

Eligible candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, be 18+, able to work in the United States, and bring at least 2 years of trailer mechanic experience; diagnostic software proficiency is preferred. Tools provided or required to work on-site at our U.S. facilities.

Qualifications

• 2 years of trailer mechanic experience.
• Proficiency with diagnostic software.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Must provide and maintain personal maintenance tools.
• Must read, write, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Services, inspects, and repairs tractor-trailers.
• Diagnoses failures and repairs on mechanical, electrical and trailer systems.
• Uses hydraulic jacks and hoists to access underside of trailers.
• Conducts full inspections of trailers to identify issues.
• Tests trailers after repairs to ensure proper operation.
• Maintains detailed service and maintenance records.
• Repairs defective parts such as brakes, tires, axles, wiring, and hydraulic systems.
