Job summary

Kalmbach Trucking is seeking a skilled Trailer Mechanic to perform DOT inspections, diagnose, and repair trailer systems in a fast-paced environment. You will handle brakes, suspensions, lights, and hydraulics while maintaining a safe work area and following FMCSA standards.

The role requires independence, teamwork, and the ability to balance planned maintenance with urgent repairs, with preferred Class A CDL and a valid state license.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong experience with trailer repair and maintenance.
• Valid state driver's license.
• Class A CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform DOT Inspections.
• Diagnose and repair trailer systems.
• Repair brake, suspension, air systems, lights, electrical and hydraulic issues.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Maintain equipment to FMCSA/DOT safety standards.
• Able to work 2nd or 3rd shift with some weekends.

We're looking for a skilled Trailer Mechanic who takes pride in quality workmanship and enjoys solving problems in a fast-paced environment. This role is critical to keeping our operation running safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate is dependable, hands-on, and able to balance planned maintenance and project work with urgent repair needs as they arise. • Perform DOT Inspections
• Diagnose and repair trailer systems
• Repair Brake, Suspension, air systems, lights, electrical issues and hydraulic issues
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Maintain equipment to standards set by Federal Motor Carrier & DOT for motor vehicle inspections and safety standards.
• You are happy to work a 2 nd shift or 3 rd shift schedule with some weekends.

Who You Are:

• Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
• Strong experience with trailer repair and maintenance
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Willing to work independently and as part of a team
• Has minimum tools for heavy trailer repair, list will be provided.
• Frequently works in a crouched position or on back lying on mechanic’s dolly beneath motor vehicle equipment; subjected to dust, dirt, and grease conditions
• Work well on a team dedicated to proper fleet maintenance
• Valid state driver's license
• Class A CDL (preferred)
