Job summary

Wallenius Wilhelmsen seeks an experienced Trailer & Equipment Mechanic to diagnose problems, repair and keep a diverse fleet in peak condition. You’ll handle lowboy trailers, Class 8 trucks, forklifts, cranes and other heavy equipment in a hands-on role.

Responsibilities include maintenance, troubleshooting hydraulic and electrical systems, and documenting work in the TMT system. 2-4 years’ experience and Air Brakes cert are required; on-site in Decatur, IL with weekday day shift.

Qualifications

2-4 years verifiable experience as Trailer & Equipment Mechanic.
Air Brakes certification required.
Basic welding skills (Oxy/Acetylene, MIG and ARC).
Proficient with hand and power tools: welders, grinders, torches, etc.
Strong computer skills and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on lowboy trailers, trucks and equipment (forklifts, cranes, yard equipment).
Service and diagnose hydraulic, air brakes, suspension, drivetrain and electrical systems.
Move equipment safely around the property.
Operate specialized tooling and vehicles.
Maintain documentation in the TMT shop software.
