Job summary

Telluride Ski & Golf in Mountain Village, Colorado, seeks staff to enhance guest safety on designated runs by enforcing safety rules, educating guests, and coordinating with Ski Patrol, Security, Mountain Operations, and Guest Services. You must be able to ski or snowboard on advanced terrain, communicate effectively, handle de‑escalation, and complete safety reports using Survey123.

Weekend/holiday availability and the ability to work at high elevations in harsh weather are required; pay is

  • Knowledge of the Skier Responsibility Code required.
  • Experience in customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance guest safety on designated runs.

  • Occasionally present skier education classes to guests and employees.
  • Work with Ski Patrol, Risk Manager, Security, Mountain Operations and Guest Services.
  • Write reports on ski safety violations and positive education contacts.

  • Assist Ski Patrol with scene management and traffic control.
  • Adheres to Skier Safety Act and related regulations.

Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for enhancing guest safety on designated runs by performing the following duties:

  • Ski and snowboard in a professional manner, maintaining speed and control and setting an example for employees and guests.
  • Engage in educational and enforcement conversations with employees and guests.
  • Occasionally present skier education classes to guests and employees.
  • Work with Ski Patrol, Risk Manager, Security, Mountain Operations and Guest Services.
  • Write reports on ski safety violations and positive education contacts.
  • Communicate via two-way radios.
  • Must be able to ski or snowboard with proficiency.
  • Utilize department protocol when dealing with confrontation situations.
  • Interview witnesses and record witness statements.
  • Provide a guest experience that exceeds the guest’s expectations
  • Supports Telluride Ski & Golf sustainability initiatives.
  • Adheres to Telluride Ski & Golf policies and procedures.
  • Assist Ski Patrol with Scene management and traffic control
  • Knowledge of and adheres to Skier Responsibility Code and Colorado Skier Safety Act.
  • Upholds, educates and enforces all aspects of the Skier Safety Act and reckless skiing violations.
  • Responsible for installation and take down of daily safety signage in predetermined areas of high traffic choke points.

Education And/or Experience
  • Must be able to ski or ride on groomed advanced terrain.
  • Knowledge of the Skier responsibility code required
  • Experience in customer service field preferred
Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Basic math skills preferred

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Computer Skills

Must be able to complete reports using Survey123 software on computer or mobile device

Other Qualifications
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with guest. Interactions with guests may require education and de-escalation skills properly communicate with guests.
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to function effectively at elevations of 10,000 feet or higher.
  • Must be able to function effectively in inclement weather conditions.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
