Job summary

Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill is seeking a Preserve Technician to care for SVPH’s 30+ mile trail system under the supervision of the Preserve Manager. The role includes mowing, signage maintenance, storm-damage cleanup, and trail improvements to sustain guest experiences.

Ideal candidates have experience with tractors, hand tools and outdoor labor, with strong communication skills and a cooperative, can-do attitude.

Qualifications

• Degree preferred in natural resource management, recreation or related field.
• Experience with trail construction and maintenance preferred.
• Able to pass a criminal background and reference check.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license.
• Flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends and some evenings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain trail signage and visibility by trimming vegetation.
• Clean and maintain trail user facilities (bird blind, observation deck, benches, picnic tables).
• Clear encroaching vegetation and manage sightlines along trails.
• Plan and implement trail route and surface improvements for drainage.
• Safely operate chainsaws, hand tools, and large equipment to clear hazards.
• Assist with invasive species management and wildlife monitoring.
• Support research and wildlife surveys as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
