Job summary

City of Pocatello is seeking a Natural Resources & Trails Supervisor to oversee maintenance of natural open spaces, trails and urban forestry programs. The role blends 70% fieldwork with 30% administrative duties, requiring strong leadership, safety, and environmental compliance.

Responsibilities include supervising crews, budgeting, planning, and coordinating with Parks Division and external agencies to ensure safe, accessible outdoor spaces for recreation and environmental well‑being.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Associate degree or higher in Parks and Recreation Management, Urban Forestry, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or related field preferred OR 4 years of related full-time work or military experience related to degree preferred.
• Class B CDL*; ISA Certified Arborist certification*.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage in maintenance and restoration of natural spaces, turf, native habitats, and landscaped areas.
• Oversee asphalt trails, pathways, bridges, and related infrastructure maintenance and safety inspections.
• Lead urban forestry activities: planting, pruning, health assessments, pest management, and inventories.
• Supervise staff, manage budgets, monitor expenditures, and coordinate projects and external partners.
