Job summary

Salt Lake City Corporation seeks a Trails Program Supervisor to lead the Foothills Trail System and related city networks. This full-time, in-person role oversees design, construction, maintenance, and asset management while coordinating with department leadership and contractors.

The position requires a strong background in natural resources or trail management, volunteer coordination, and safety leadership; a CDL and pesticide license may be required within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience in a paid professional leadership position in natural resources management or trail maintenance.
• Experience coordinating volunteers and public engagement.
• Familiarity with open space recreation and trail systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans, designs, and implements assets within the Salt Lake City Foothills Trail System Plan.
• Oversees maintenance of trails, trailheads, signage, and related amenities.
• Coordinates with vendors and contractors to ensure material delivery and quality.
• Supervises maintenance crews and volunteers, assigns work and ensures completion.
• Trains and motivates employees; manages preventative maintenance schedules.
• Operates and maintains trail-building equipment as needed.
• Maintains documentation on performance and safety; prepares reports.
