Job summary

The State of Missouri's MoDOT is seeking a Traffic Studies Specialist in Chesterfield, MO, in a CAREER-LADDER role that advances from entry to senior levels based on skill and experience.

You will review and analyze traffic data, investigate concerns, and support signing, pavement markings, signals, and lighting operations while performing field inspections to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow in the Chesterfield area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from ABET-accredited college or university.
• Ability to perform field inspections and analyze traffic data.
• Willingness to work in moderately adverse environmental conditions.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and analyzes traffic data to identify concerns and recommends corrective actions.
• Investigates and responds to customer concerns on traffic-related issues.
• Reviews policies, standards, and other criteria pertaining to signing, pavement marking, signals, lighting, crash records, and permits to make improvements or ensure compliance.
• Makes periodic field inspections to observe traffic operations; conducts traffic studies and makes recommendations to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow.
• Assists in directing the activities of traffic data collection, signing, pavement marking, and signal and lighting operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university curriculum.

Special Working Conditions:

• Job requires exposure to moderately adverse and undesirable environmental conditions.
• Job may require operation of vehicles to plow snow and spread ice control materials.
• A postsecondary degree is the best measure to ensure candidates possess required engineering knowledge, including in applied physics and mathematics, drafting, engineering processes and procedures, project management, industry ethical standards, and analyzing and modeling data.
