Job summary

The City of Waco seeks a reliable Traffic Signs & Markings Technician - CDL to install and maintain traffic signs and street markings on City streets and Department locations.

The ideal candidate will have a valid Texas Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement, the required Signs & Markings Technician certification within 2 years, and the ability to work safely in a team. This full-time role may require after-hours responses in emergencies, contributing to public safety through proper signage.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid Texas Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement within 180 days.
• Signs & Markings Technician certification from a recognized agency within 2 years.
• Additional training or certifications may be required per City needs.

Responsibilities

• Installs and maintains traffic control signs and markings on City streets and Department locations.
• Delivers and picks up road closure signs and devices; assists with setting up closures.
• Installs, repairs and replaces street signs according to assigned work orders.
• Operates equipment for painting street lines and installing overhead signs.

The City of Waco is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Traffic Signs & Markings Technician - CDL to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in traffic sign and marking work, a strong understanding of safety protocols, and the ability to work efficiently in a team environment.

Minimum Qualifications;

Required:

• HS Diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker Endorsement within 180 days.
• Signs & Markings Technician certification from a nationally recognized and accredited agency or association within 2 years.
• According to the needs of the City, specific training and/or certifications may be required.

Position Description:

Installs and maintains traffic control signs and markings on City streets and Department locations.

Essential Functions:

• Delivers and picks up road closure signs and devices; assists with setting up closures.
• Installs, repairs and replaces street signs according to assigned work orders.
• Places and burns thermoplastic for street markings; operates water truck and striping truck to paint street lines.
• Operates lift truck for installing overhead signs.
• May assist in fabricating signs.
• May be required to respond afterhours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.
