State of Missouri’s Transportation Management Center of the Ozarks in Springfield seeks a traffic intern to assist with timing adjustments, data collection, and model creation. Enrolled in an ABET-accredited program with GPA 2.0+; 30 credits completed. Located in Springfield, MO, with opportunities to support roadway safety and traffic operations under supervision.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an ABET-accredited bachelor’s or post-bachelor’s degree program full-time (12+ credit hours).
  • 30 credit hours completed toward current degree; transcripts required for certain credits.
  • GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Review and adjust traffic signal timing.
  • Collect and review traffic count data.
  • Create and review traffic models.
  • Review proposed plans for construction on department right of way for feasibility (drainage, sight distance, landscaping, curbing, traffic flow).
  • Conduct field inspections of projects and work zones; measure traffic control devices for standards compliance.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence for meetings.
  • Submit proposals to supervisor or Traffic Division for review.
  • Assist department personnel with traffic-related issues.
  • Assist with striping layouts, signal observations, and traffic studies when needed.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required.
