Job summary

The City of Wichita is seeking a semiskilled worker to install and maintain traffic control devices, signs, and pavement markings. You may lead maintenance crews and support skilled workers as needed, following written or oral work orders.

Expect to operate a variety of equipment, document tasks, and work outdoors in high-traffic zones. A valid driver's license and CDL endorsements within 60 days are required; occasional long shifts and random drug testing apply.

Qualifications

• Two years semiskilled experience in installation/repair of traffic control devices or related construction work.
• Must have a valid driver's license at time of hire.
• Ability to acquire/maintain Class A CDL with Tanker and Air Brake endorsements within 60 days.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Erect, install, and maintain traffic signal support equipment and signs.
• Assist with assembling, repairing, and maintaining traffic signal heads.
• Install underground conduit for signal control/detection equipment.
• Install/maintain pavement markings using paint or thermoplastic.
• Assist with installing traffic control devices.
• Operate a range of vehicles from light trucks to heavy equipment.
