Job summary

Curtis Contracting, Inc. is seeking a Traffic Signal Installer to install signal equipment including trenching, conduit, foundations, cabling, and erection of mast poles and arms for both temporary and permanent intersections.

The role requires reading plans, following OSHA safety standards, and operating bucket trucks, digger derricks, and boom trucks on live intersections, all while maintaining traffic flow and weather-related challenges on outdoor construction sites.

Qualifications

Job Description

NATURE OF WORK

The Traffic Signal Installer will be responsible for installation of signal equipment to include trench, conduit, various concrete foundations, pulling of signal cable and building and erection of mast poles and arms as well as span intersections (temporary and permanent installations).

WORKING ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work is performed outdoors at construction sites, maintenance facilities, and outside environments with exposure to inclement weather. Moderate physical demands: strength sufficient to lift and move items weighing up to seventy-five (75) pounds. This position may require repeated reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, and climbing beside/unto/under a variety of equipment. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Additional duties may be assigned.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

This position requires basic understanding of installation of traffic signals conforming to VDOT specs and standards, ability to operate bucket truck and working on live intersections while maintaining traffic flow.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

18 years of age or older; This position is considered an essential position which could require the individual to report to work during inclement weather conditions, with various work hours.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Knowledge of traffic signal equipment and associated hardware, ability to read and understand plans, OSHA rules and regulations, and safety standards. Must have knowledge of safe and efficient operation/maintenance of small construction equipment, bucket trucks, digger derricks and boom trucks as well as miscellaneous hand held tools according to standard operating procedures.
