Curtis Contracting, Inc. in Charlottesville, Virginia is seeking a Traffic Signal Installer responsible for the installation of traffic signal equipment, including trenching and conduit work, as well as erection of mast poles.
This role includes outdoor work in various weather conditions, requiring the ability to lift heavy items and operate specialized machinery safely. Benefits include health insurance, 401K, paid holidays, and more.
The Traffic Signal Installer will be responsible for installation of signal equipment to include trench, conduit, various concrete foundations, pulling of signal cable and building and erection of mast poles and arms as well as span intersections (temporary and permanent installations).
Work is performed outdoors at construction sites, maintenance facilities, and outside environments with exposure to inclement weather. Moderate physical demands: strength sufficient to lift and move items weighing up to seventy-five (75) pounds. This position may require repeated reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, and climbing beside/unto/under a variety of equipment. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. This position requires basic understanding of installation of traffic signals conforming to VDOT specs and standards, ability to operate bucket truck and working on live intersections while maintaining traffic flow.
18 years of age or older; This position is considered an essential position which could require the individual to report to work during inclement weather conditions, with various work hours.
Knowledge of traffic signal equipment and associated hardware, ability to read and understand plans, OSHA rules and regulations, and safety standards. Must have knowledge of safe and efficient operation/maintenance of small construction equipment, bucket trucks, digger derricks and boom trucks as well as miscellaneous hand held tools according to standard operating procedures.
