Job summary

The City of Dallas seeks a Traffic Signal Engineer I to apply engineering skills across planning, design, operations, construction, and maintenance of traffic signaling and ITS infrastructure.

Responsibilities include managing design/construction contracts, coordinating with multiple departments, and performing site visits to ensure quality and budget adherence. A Texas PE license within the probationary period is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university.
• Minimum 1 year of transportation or traffic signal engineering in a professional engineer capacity.
• Professional Engineer license in Texas to be obtained within probationary period.
• Valid Texas driver’s license with good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provides project management over design and construction for traffic signal, ITS, signs, street lights, and related infra.
• Coordinates with City departments, residents, developers and council members on project status.
• Conducts site visits to verify progress and compliance with specs and budgets.
• Mentors Engineering Assistants and participates in ATMS expansion efforts.
