Job summary

Colorado Department of Transportation in Alamosa, CO is seeking a Lead Highway Maintenance Specialist (Transportation Maintenance II) to supervise Traffic and Safety Signing/Striping crews. The role involves operating heavy equipment, planning work, and ensuring safety in highway maintenance across Interstates and Colorado Highways.

CDL-eligible, with a requirement to obtain Class A or B within 120 days of hire and to pass a DOT drug test.

Qualifications

• At least three (3) years of experience in road/highway maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Lead crews performing roadway striping, traffic control and signing per MUTCD and M&S standards.
• Develop traffic control plans and provide advance warnings in work zones for safety of the traveling public and CDOT personnel.
• Manage inventories of signs and paint products to ensure adequate supply; avoid carry over at season end.
• Lead and mentor crews in installation, maintenance, repair and inspection of signs (class I-III).
• Plan daily activities, review progress, identify training needs, and provide on-the-job training and safety talks.
