Job summary

Santa Fe County is seeking a Signs Technician to install, inspect and repair traffic signs in accordance with MUTCD and county policies. You will design, cut, lay out and install signs per MUTCD guidelines, prepare materials and surfaces for fabrication, and set up locations by trimming trees as needed.

Responsibilities include maintaining inventory and logs, operating fabrication and hand tools, collecting GPS data for traffic devices, supporting field investigations, and following safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 1 year of construction/technical field experience preferred.
• Obtain ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor Certification within 6 months of hire.
• Obtain IMSA Work Zone Traffic Control Technician and Signs and Markings Level I within 1 year of hire.
• Maintain OSHA and First Aid, CPR and AED certifications or obtain within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect and repair traffic signs per MUTCD and county guidelines.
• Operate fabrication equipment and install sign poles; prepare locations for installation.
• Maintain inventory and daily log of work performed.
• Collect GPS data for traffic devices and assist field investigations.
• Assist traffic staff in field investigations to support traffic analysis and permits.
• Follow safety protocols and promote workplace safety.
