Job summary

City of South Fulton is seeking a skilled worker to install, repair, and maintain traffic signs and signals across our jurisdiction. The role involves street sign fabrication, erection, and support for road markings, traffic control, and event detours.

Candidate will work both indoors and outdoors, on streets and right-of-ways, and assist with snow removal and truck operation as needed. A valid driver’s license is required; CDL is preferred and prior traffic maintenance experience is valued.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• One (1) year of experience in traffic maintenance or related field is required.
• Requires a valid state driver’s license; CDL is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in installation, maintenance and repair of signs and road markings.
• Fabricates and erects replacement street signs on City streets.
• Installs flexible delineators, bollards, and wheel stops.
• Assists with snow removal, driving trucks, and other Public Works tasks as needed.
• Work is indoors and outdoors, on streets and right of ways.
• Assists in traffic control, detours, road closures, and event setups; installs message boards.
• Assists in inventory control.
• Operates bucket truck, trencher, hydraulic post tools and related equipment.
• Maintains shop area and cleanliness.

• Assists in the installation, maintenance and repair of signs and road markings in accordance with department procedures and traffic control device manual.
• Fabricating and erects replacement street signs on City maintained streets.
• Installing flexible delineators, bollards, and wheel stops.
• Assists with various other tasks in the Public Works Department as needed (snow removal, driving trucks, etc.

• Assists in the implementation of traffic control, detours, road closures, emergency situations, and special events; assists in the set up and installation of message boards for events.
• Assists in inventory control.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. One (1) year of experience in traffic maintenance or related field is required.

Requires a valid state driver’s license, preferred CDL with an acceptable driving history.

Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-25 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals. Some tasks require that ability to communicate orally.
