Job summary

Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) is hiring a Traffic Sign Installer Specialist to lead crews on roadway signing projects. This on-call position requires residence within 45 minutes of the Bear Sign Shop and availability for a rotating schedule.

Primary duties include installing signs and pavement markings, site preparation, layout determination, tool operation, vehicle and equipment use, daily reporting, inventory maintenance and training of junior installers.

Qualifications

• Six months experience operating hand and power tools.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics or technical drawings.
• Valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled).

Introduction

Summary Statement

Incumbents in this class serve as lead workers for roadway signing projects. Since this position will be an on-call rotation, the selected candidate must live within 45 minutes of the Bear Sign Shop.

Essential Functions

• Operates hand and power tools such as air hammers, pipe installers and pullers, saws, etc.

• Submits daily reports to account for materials, man-hours and equipment used.

Job Requirements

• Six months experience in operating a variety of hand and power tools used in trades fields such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting or HVAC.
• Knowledge of interpreting blueprints, schematics or technical drawings.
• Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving.
