State of Delaware is seeking an Intelligent Transportation Systems Technician I to maintain traffic signal and ITS equipment, install, modify, test, troubleshoot and repair ITS field devices, with rotational on-call duties including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Candidates must follow safety procedures, operate bucket trucks and testing equipment, and be able to respond to emergencies within 60 minutes of reporting to duty station. Pre-employment drug testing and background checks apply.
The mission of the Division of Transportation Solutions is to provide excellence in transportation by developing, constructing and maintaining the State's infrastructure in a manner that results in a safe, cost-effective, and efficient multi-modal transportation network that enhances mobility commerce, and livability. In addition, Transportation Solutions provides high quality support services to other divisions in the department.
Position responsible for maintenance work on traffic signal & Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) equipment. Candidate will install, modify, test, troubleshoot & repair traffic control signals, communications & ITS field devices. Position has rotational on-call duties & must respond to emergency situations (including nights, weekends, & holidays). Candidate must follow applicable safety procedures, operate equipment such as bucket trucks, underground locating equipment & electrical test equipment. Candidate must also be physically able to lift materials such as pedestrian signal poles & other traffic signal equipment. Applicant must be able to report to their duty station within 60 minutes to respond to operational emergencies.

This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization) that has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other applicable terms and conditions of employment, in accordance with Title 29, Chapter 59 and Title 19, Chapter 13 and 16. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms.

Criminal background check: A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire. The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.
As a condition of hire you must possess a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
All new hires are required to report to the Statewide New Employee Orientation (SNEO) on their first day of employment. Sessions are held at designated locations in Kent or New Castle County.
