Job summary

Santa Fe County NM is seeking an employee to install, inspect, and repair traffic signs per MUTCD guidelines. You will prepare sites, operate fabrication tools, and install sign poles while maintaining equipment and safety standards.

The role involves field work, data collection for traffic devices, and supporting traffic analyses and permit reviews. A valid NM driver's license and safety certifications are required. This is a full-time on-site position with benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 1 year in construction or related field.
• ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor Certification within 6 months of hire.
• IMSA Work Zone Traffic Control Technician and Signs Level I within 1 year.
• OSHA and First Aid, CPR and AED certifications within 6 months.
• Valid New Mexico Class D driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Designs, cuts, lays out and installs signs per MUTCD; prepares locations for installation.
• Orders, inventories and maintains materials and equipment; logs work performed.
• Operates fabrication tools; installs sign poles; ensures safe operation of equipment.
• Inspects signs/markings for visibility; maintains paving markings.
• Collects GPS data for traffic devices and assists field investigations.
• Supports traffic analysis, permit reviews and construction inspections.
• Follows safety protocols and promotes workplace safety.
