Job summary

AWP Safety is hiring a Protector to join our field team at job sites in Washington. No experience or degree is required; we provide training and support to help you build a safety-focused career. Safety comes first—always.

You will set up traffic control, guide vehicles with a stop/slow paddle, and follow all rules. We offer paid training, health insurance, a 401(k) option, and clear career paths to leadership roles.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license.
• 60 minute radius hard requirement if stated.
• Able to stand, walk, and work outside for long periods.
• Able to lift 40–50 pounds.
• Willing to work in traffic and changing weather.
• Flexible schedule; punctual for every shift.
• Must pass pre-hire screening, including a drug test.
• Stay alert around moving traffic and follow safety rules.
• Treate coworkers, clients, and the public with respect.

Responsibilities

• Setting up cones, signs, and barricades and taking traffic control equipment down.
• Using a stop/slow paddle to guide traffic, watching traffic and job site activity.
• Following all safety rules taught in training.
• Communicating with your crew and supervisor.
• Helping keep vehicles and equipment clean and safe.
• Working outside all year, in all weather.
• Shifts may change based on job needs; some nights, weekends, or emergency work may be required.
• Standing or walking 8 to 12 hours per shift.
• Using a hard hat, safety goggles, a safety vest, safety whistle, walkie talkie, and cold/hot weather gear (you bring your own steel-toe safety boots that go above the ankle).
