Job summary

HNTB Corporation seeks an experienced traffic engineering leader to deliver NCDOT safety analyses, corridor studies and predictive safety evaluations. You will drive scope, budgets, and client satisfaction while mentoring team members and coordinating with client leaders.

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s in Engineering with 8+ years of related experience; a Master’s is a plus. PE certification and PMP are preferred. Raleigh, NC area opportunities with travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; 8+ years of related experience preferred.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering is a plus.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification and PMP credential preferred.
  • Familiarity with NCDOT Traffic Safety Software (TEAAS) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the project scope and fee quotation; assist with proposals and contracts.
  • Serve as primary client liaison; manage project team to deliver scope, schedule and budget.
  • Perform technical tasks including analysis, reports, design, specifications and production.
  • Implement SDA project delivery; lead development and execution of the project management plan.
  • Mentor staff; coordinate staffing, performance reviews and succession planning.
  • Support business development; help pursue strategic and mega projects.

You will be responsible for delivering NCDOT Safety assignments including fatal and HSIP crash analyses and investigations, safety evaluations, and other safety assignments. Other projects include corridor studies focused on safetyand mobility, predictive safety analyses for new projects, and on-call crash analysis requests. The role will include leveraging technical expertise and relationships to deliver projects within budget and to the client’s satisfaction. This opportunity also includes leading, mentoring, training, and reviewing work of members of our current team of professionals.What You'll Do:Responsible for development of the project scope and fee quotation and assists in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).Serves as the primary client liaison and manages the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client’s satisfaction. Assists with client project scoping and contract negotiations.Performs technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects.Implements the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Leads the development and the execution of the project management plan. Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives.Performs coordination with managers on project staffing, including, but not limited to; recruitment, development, retention, and succession of project staff; development of plan for project staff reporting; and support for performance and compensation reviews.Partners with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for strategic and mini-mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Works with the project team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials. Leads proposal development and interview presentations for strategic and mini-mega projects to the client as well as general presentations within the industry and community.May be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession.Performs other duties as assigned.What You'll Need:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience2 years task management or Deputy PM experienceWhat You'll Bring:Shows excellent technical knowledge and quality work in multiple discipline projects.Winning, contracting, and successfully delivering 4for4 (on-time, on-budget, quality, client satisfaction) on smaller projects.
