Tallahassee State College Traffic Safety Program Manager

Tallahassee State College (TSC) is excited to announce a full‑time, grant‑funded opening for the position of Traffic Safety Program Manager with the Florida Department of Transportation/Contract and Grants.

What You’ll Do

The Traffic Safety Program Manager position is a grant funded position housed at the Florida Department of Transportation. The position reports directly to the Traffic Safety Administrator at the Florida Department of Transportation and is responsible for analyzing, directing, and monitoring highway safety countermeasure activities through traffic safety grant programs.

  • Day‑to‑day, you’ll be responsible for coordinating and monitoring sub‑recipients to ensure that program activities are implemented as intended; supporting the Traffic Safety Administrator in managing all sub‑grants within assigned program areas funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
  • Analyzing all program activities regularly to ensure that programs are effective and resources are allocated appropriately.
  • Creating a monitoring schedule and conducting preliminary visits to establish requirements and expectations when needed.
  • Implementing ongoing, systematic monitoring and review of programs onsite and offsite to detect and correct problems quickly.
  • Ensuring required reports have been submitted.
  • Reviewing reimbursement claim submissions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Florida Statutes, Florida Administrative Code, directives, policies, and procedures.
  • Discussing any issues with sub‑recipients and correcting as needed.
  • Planning subgrants by developing, implementing, and facilitating an overall plan for federally funded state and local grant programs and activities.
  • Providing advice and assistance in the decision‑making process related to the section’s ability to accomplish its goals and objectives.
  • Creating plans based on problem identification that considers research and traffic data to direct state and community resources toward effective countermeasures that address program‑defined traffic safety issues.
  • Ensuring that funding is allocated for specific data‑driven program needs toward self‑sufficiency when required.
  • Assisting in the development of the annual Highway Safety Plan and Annual Report.
  • Providing consultation by assisting sub‑recipients, associates, and the general public on matters pertaining to program planning, evaluation, data analysis, and data development.
  • Serving as a resource to sub‑recipients.
  • Representing and/or facilitating committees, coalitions, and task groups on behalf of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
  • Establishing and maintaining records/data using the office’s tracking systems accurately, timely, reliable, and accessible; making data available to all partners, either internal or external.
  • Evaluating sub‑grants by measuring progress in achieving established goals and objectives and ensuring appropriate data is being collected for evaluation.
  • Performing a final review of sub‑grants to verify satisfactory progress has been made and using evaluation results to report regularly to management and to guide further program activities.
  • Representing FDOT in a positive way, facilitating state and local task forces as well as other traffic safety initiatives that are funded under the defined program area.

Includes extensive administrative work and in‑state travel, with some limited out‑of‑state travel.
