Job summary

The City of Raleigh is seeking a professional engineer to lead its Traffic Operations Division, overseeing Signs and Pavement Markings, Traffic Signals and related systems. You will manage budgets, asset performance, and strategic plans to keep the traffic network safe and efficient for residents and commuters.

Ideal candidates have 5–7 years in engineering or project management, PE licensure, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; 5–7 years in engineering/management.
• PE licensure required; strong budgeting and contract experience preferred.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams on transportation projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight to three main programs in the division.
• Prepare and manage operating and capital budgets for division staff and contracts.
• Oversee asset management and performance reporting for traffic assets.
• Develop strategic plans for advanced, safe traffic control systems.
• Coordinate with NCDOT and regional partners on long-term signal expansion.
