The role requires accuracy, strong collaboration across teams, and the ability to adapt to evolving schedules, systems and platforms to support on-air and online offerings.

Qualifications

  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and maintain daily television broadcast logs.
  • Reviews daily logs for accuracy, including underwriting placement, program segments, promotional elements, sponsorship requirements, and contractual obligations and resolve discrepancies with master control.
  • Monitors commercial inventory and available positions to maximize utilization while meeting advertiser and station requirements.
  • Reviews logs for compliance with station policies, FCC requirements, and applicable commercial and programming restrictions.
  • Coordinates with Master Control to ensure daily logs accurately reflect the elements that are expected to air.
  • Maintains program information, rights, availability, and scheduling records.
  • Coordinates with master control and content department to ensure availability and delivery of scheduled media.
  • Develops and maintains program grids and long-range programming schedules.
  • Serves as a primary point of coordination between Programming, Master Control, Development, Membership, Content, and other departments regarding the daily broadcast schedule.
  • Assists with maintaining program schedules for the station's website, electronic program guide, streaming services, and other platforms where applicable.
  • Clarifies, diagnoses, reports and provides resolutions to resolve internal and external technical problems.

Job Summary

The Traffic Manager is responsible for the accurate and timely scheduling, maintenance, and reconciliation of daily television broadcast logs. This position serves as a key link between the Sales, Programming, Operations, and Master Control departments to ensure that all promotional, underwriting, and program elements are scheduled accurately.

Required Qualifications
  • This position requires a high school diploma and two years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Communication, Broadcasting, or closely related field.
  • One year full-time experience in radio and/or television.
  • Previous experience as a Traffic Manager at a broadcast radio and/or television station.
  • Experience with Myers ProTrack software.
  • Experience with PBS Interconnection Systems.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
  • Proven ability to think strategically and approach challenges with creativity
  • Demonstrated track record of reliability, meeting goals, and holding oneself accountable
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working effectively across teams
  • Working knowledge of television automation systems.
  • Knowledge of new digital platforms that support public media content.

  • Knowledge of FCC standards, rules, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of PBS real-time and non-real time content delivery systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files and reports.
  • Ability to think analytically and logically and motivated to incorporate best practices into work processes.
  • Ability to work positively and efficiently under pressure while meeting close deadlines.Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments.
