Job summary

Felsburg Holt & Ullevig (FHU) is seeking a motivated Transportation Engineering Intern to support our traffic group in Omaha, NE, Lincoln, NE, and Des Moines, IA. This summer internship offers hands-on project experience, exposure to traffic software, and collaboration with experienced engineers.

As an intern, you will assist with data collection, fieldwork, and reports, learn to use Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, or SIDRA, and collaborate on interdisciplinary projects.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Civil or Transportation Engineering program (Junior, Senior, or Graduate).
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
• Availability for a 3-month internship.
• Familiarity with MUTCD, ITE, NACTO, AASHTO and traffic analysis software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with traffic engineering projects through data collection, fieldwork, and technical support.

This summer internship position is available at Omaha, NE, Lincoln, NE, and Des Moines, IA.

Internship Overview

As an intern, you will:

• Assist with traffic engineering projects through data collection, fieldwork, and technical support
• Support traffic analyses to identify operational and safety challenges
• Help prepare reports, presentations, and design documents (signing, pavement marking, traffic signal plans)
• Learn to use traffic engineering software such as Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, or SIDRA
• Collaborate with engineers and planners on interdisciplinary projects

Key Responsibilities

• Enrolled in a Civil or Transportation Engineering program (Junior, Senior, or Graduate student)
