VHB's growing Raleigh, NC team is seeking a Traffic Engineering Project Manager to join our Transportation team. Responsibilities :

The role involves a range of services in design, operations, safety, and policy. Candidates are not required to have deep expertise in all areas but should be prepared to engage with some or all responsibilities based on their strengths and interests.

• Manage traffic engineering, transportation planning, and safety projects and contracts
• Conduct traffic safety and operational improvement studies for intersections and corridors
• Lead development and review of traffic impact analyses (TIAs) for municipalities
• Analyze traffic safety issues and develop crash reduction measures
• Perform field investigations to identify crash causes and appropriate countermeasures
• Oversee quality and contribute to complex technical decisions across multimodal transportation engineering projects
• Apply knowledge of traffic signal design, operations, and systems
• Address community traffic engineering and safety concerns
• Manage projects involving traffic control device design (signs, markings, signals) and ITS
• Prepare interchange justification, functional design, and access management reports
• Develop mobility solutions considering all users, including motorists, bicyclists, transit users, and pedestrians of all ages and abilities
• Familiarity with North Carolina Department of Transportation traffic policies and practices
• Support development of policy and design guidance for traffic, technology, and control devices
• Support projects involving transportation technology, including innovative approaches

Skills and Abilities :

• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Experience presenting to citizens and at public meetings
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently
• Understanding of overseeing multidisciplinary teams and projects
• Experience in project management and marketing transportation services
• Leadership and mentorship skills

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• 11-15 years of professional traffic engineering experience
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in North Carolina
• Background in traffic engineering and project management
