Job summary

HDR, Inc. invites applications for a Traffic Engineering Intern in California. The role focuses on LOS analysis at intersections (Synchro), traffic forecast modeling, and GIS/AutoCAD-based figure preparation.

The intern will participate in field data collection and CEQA/NEPA-related traffic studies under the guidance of a licensed engineer. Ideal candidates are civil/transportation students in accredited programs, with an interest in traffic operations and design, and a willingness to work up to

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills and basic Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Interest and experience in traffic engineering concepts.
• Familiarity with GIS or graphic design tools is a plus.
• Local California internship experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete LOS analysis for intersections using Synchro.
• Assist with traffic forecast modeling.
• Prepare figures using GIS and AutoCAD.
• Conduct parking impact studies near the Project Area.
• Perform traffic impact analyses for CEQA/NEPA studies.
• Record field data for intersection and signal design.
