Job summary

HDR is seeking a Traffic Engineering Intern in Irvine, CA to support our Transportation team. This role offers mentorship from licensed engineers and on-site collaboration, with a focus on learning through real projects.

You will perform LOS analyses, assist with traffic forecasting, GIS/AutoCAD tasks, and field data collection, gaining experience in CEQA/NEPA studies and design standards.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate engineering program with focus on Civil/Transportation.
• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills and willingness to work up to 20 hours per week on site.

Responsibilities

• Complete LOS analysis for selected intersections using Synchro.
• Assist with traffic forecast modeling and trip generation estimates.
• Create projections using GIS and AutoCAD.
• Conduct parking studies near the project area.
• Perform traffic impact analyses for CEQA/NEPA studies.
• Record field data for intersection and signal design.
