Job summary

DOWL is a long-established, multi-disciplinary civil engineering firm seeking a Transportation Planning and Design intern. This internship supports a team of transportation planners and engineers, offering hands-on exposure to roadway improvements and long-term community goals.

Ideal candidates are pursuing civil engineering through 1–2 years of college coursework, with basic proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• One to two years of college-level coursework toward a civil engineering degree.
• Driving is an essential function or a valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Establish and document existing conditions at project sites through research and site visits.
• Perform engineering calculations in support of civil engineering design projects.
• Perform drafting using AutoCAD and other software.
• Coordinate with government agencies, client staff and other professionals for design info and approvals.
• Prepare project related correspondence and record keeping.
• Conduct periodic site visits to monitor quality and progress of the work.
• Assist with writing and editing construction specifications.
• Tabulate bid items and estimate construction costs.
