Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an immediate opening for a dynamic Traffic Engineer in our growing Traffic/ITS Group in Lone Tree, Colorado (Denver Metro area), and Westlake, Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth Metro area). You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, MOT, pavement, utilities, drainage, roadway, rail, traffic, and materials disciplines. This division is a multi-faceted and leading-edge part of Kiewit, focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects.

As a Traffic Engineer, you will coordinate with project teams across Canada, Mexico, and the United States to design and produce traffic engineering designs for design/build and other alternative delivery projects in North America.

District Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design Build/Alternative Delivery team manages multi-disciplined design teams to improve schedule, control costs, and minimize risk during all stages of design-build projects. Our engineers work collaboratively with estimators and builders to create innovative, constructible, and safe designs. We analyze problems, identify root causes, and resolve design issues proactively. On large projects, our proven processes and tools help minimize risks, ensuring safe, cost-effective, and innovative outcomes that meet client expectations and uphold Kiewit’s legacy of excellence.

This role can be based in our Lone Tree, Colorado, or Westlake, Texas offices. Relocation assistance is available for out-of-area candidates.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform preliminary to final design tasks in traffic engineering sub-disciplines for North American projects, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams:
• Traffic Analyses and Modeling
• Signing & Pavement Markings
• ITS design
• Traffic Signal design
• Roadway Lighting/Electrical design
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate junior staff and interns
• Analyze complex design and construction phasing plans to develop effective traffic strategies, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards

Qualifications

• 5+ years of transportation project experience with similar traffic engineering duties
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering
• Registered Professional Engineer; PTOE certification is desirable
• Knowledge and experience in one or more traffic sub-disciplines:
• Traffic Analyses and Modeling
• Signing & Pavement Markings
• ITS design
• Traffic Signal design
• Roadway Lighting/Electrical design
• Proficiency with MicroStation / OpenRoads Designer (ORD) or AutoCAD / Civil 3D
• Experience with traffic simulation software such as Synchro/SimTraffic, Vissim, TransModeler, HCS, or similar platforms is preferred

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary ranges from $94,000 to $120,000 per year, depending on education, experience, skills, and location.
