Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an immediate opening for a dynamic Traffic Engineer in our growing Traffic/ITS Group in Lone Tree, Colorado (Denver Metro area) and Westlake, Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth Metro area). You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, MOT, pavement, utilities, drainage, roadway, rail, traffic, and materials disciplines. This infrastructure design group is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects.

As a Traffic Engineer, you will coordinate with project teams in Canada, Mexico, and the United States to design and produce traffic engineering designs for design/build and other alternative delivery projects in North America.

District Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design Build/Alternative Delivery team manages multi-disciplinary design teams during all stages of design-build projects to improve schedule, control costs, and minimize risk. Our engineers work collaboratively with estimators and builders to design solutions that are innovative, constructible, and safe. We analyze problems, determine root causes, and resolve design issues proactively. Our proven processes and tools help minimize project risk, especially on large projects. We support projects across the company, sharing experiences, innovative concepts, and best practices to ensure safe, cost-effective, and innovative designs that meet client expectations and uphold Kiewit's legacy of excellence.

Location

This role is based in our Lone Tree, Colorado (Denver metro area) or Westlake, Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth metro area) offices. Relocation assistance is available for candidates outside these areas.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform preliminary to final design tasks in traffic engineering disciplines for North American projects, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams:
• Traffic Analyses and Modeling
• Signing & Pavement Markings
• Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) design
• Traffic Signal design
• Roadway Lighting / Electrical design
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate junior staff and interns
• Analyze complex design and construction phasing plans to develop effective traffic strategies and ensure safety and compliance

Qualifications

• 5+ years of transportation project experience with traffic engineering duties
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering
• Registered Professional Engineer; PTOE certification is a plus
• Knowledge and experience in traffic analyses, ITS, signal design, roadway lighting, or related fields
• Proficiency with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar platforms
• Experience with traffic simulation/modeling software such as Synchro, Vissim, TransModeler, HCS, or similar

Base salary ranges from $94,000 to $120,000 annually, depending on experience, education, and location.
