Job summary

The City of San Diego is seeking a Traffic Engineer to develop travel forecasts, perform traffic analyses, crash studies, field surveys, and transportation plan reviews. You will recommend and design traffic control improvements—signals, street lights, signage, pavement markings, and signal timing plans—and inspect related plans and work.

Applicants should have two years of full-time professional traffic engineering experience and meet education/credential options such as a relevant bachelor's

Qualifications

• Requires two years of full-time professional traffic engineering or transportation planning experience.
• Education options: relevant bachelor's degree, Engineer-in-Training certificate, or professional engineering registration; education may be substituted by qualifying experience.
• California Class C driver's license may be required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Develop travel forecasts and conduct traffic analyses, crash studies, field surveys, and transportation plan reviews.
• Recommend and design traffic control improvements, including signals, street lights, signage, pavement markings, and signal timing plans, and inspect related plans and work.
