Job summary

GPI is seeking a full-time Traffic Engineer for our Connecticut Operations. The role offers involvement in public and private development projects in-state and regionally, with a focus on mobility solutions that benefit communities. PE in CT is required; PTOE and RSP are pluses.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering with a focus on Traffic/Transportation.
  • 7+ years of traffic engineering experience preferred; all levels considered.
  • PE license required (CT preferred); PTOE and RSP are pluses.
  • Experience developing conceptual intersection/corridor options is a plus.
  • Interest in urban design and multi-modal accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Thorough understanding of current traffic engineering standards and practices.
  • Drafting, traffic analysis, and simulation programs (Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, AutoCAD) required; VISSIM/SIDRA a plus.
  • Prepare reports and memorandums with good writing skills.
  • Mentor younger staff and participate in industry events and networking.

Responsibilities
  • Thorough understanding of current traffic engineering standards and practices
  • Working knowledge of drafting, traffic analysis, and simulation programs (Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, AUTOCAD) is required. Knowledge of VISSIM and SIDRA is a plus
  • Good writing skills with the ability to prepare reports and memorandums.
  • Interest in learning and growing as a professional while mentoring younger staff to strengthen the team
  • Attendance at industry events and networking.
Qualifications
  • BS in Civil Engineering required with a focus on Traffic/Transportation preferred
  • 7+ years of traffic engineering experience preferred. All levels of experience will be considered
  • PE is required (CT preferred), and PTOE, and RSP are plusses.
  • Experience developing conceptual intersection/corridor options is a plus
  • Interest and experience in working on complete streets projects is a plus
  • Experience with urban design and current design practices for multi-modal accommodation is a plus
  • Experience working on CTDOT projects is a plus
Minimum Requirements
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
