Job summary

Foundation Recruiting and Consulting is seeking a Traffic Engineer at multiple levels in San Diego or Riverside. This is a full-time direct hire with a hybrid schedule: three days in office, ~1–2 days remote, and travel required about one day per week.

Candidates must hold a CA PE or TE license, a Civil Engineering or related degree, and have strong traffic engineering design experience, including traffic signals, signing/striping plans, and traffic impact analyses.

Qualifications

• Licensed CA PE or TE in good standing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation, Urban Planning, or similar.
• Strong traffic engineering design experience with municipal projects.
• Experience with traffic signals, signing/striping plans, and traffic impact analyses.
• Proficient with HCS, Vistro, Synchro and similar software.
• Familiar with CVC, MUTCD, and Highway Capacity Manual.
• Experience collaborating with clients and public agencies, and leading teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide municipal traffic engineering services and in-house project work.
• Prepare final traffic engineering plans, including signals, signing/striping.
• Develop Traffic Impact Analyses and related reports.
• Manage and supervise traffic designers/planners and CAD drafters.
• Interact productively with clients and public agencies.

Traffic Engineer (multiple openings at a variety of levels)

Full Time Direct Hire

Salary is ~$120-160k+ depending on experience level

Required:

• Professional Civil Engineer (PE) or Professional Traffic Engineer (TE), active in CA
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation, Urban Planning, or similar
• Strong Traffic Engineering Design
• Strong mix of the following: providing municipal traffic engineering services, including in-house services, preparation/processing of final traffic engineering plans (traffic signals, traffic control plans, signing/striping plans, etc.), preparation of Traffic Impact Analysis, and various traffic related studies and reports.
• Experienced in HCS, Vistro, Synchro, and other traffic related software
• Experienced in California Vehicle Code (CVC), MUTCD, and familiar with Highway Capacity Manual
• Experience interacting comfortably and productively with clients and public agencies
• Experience in transit planning and design
• Management experience supervising the work of traffic designers/planners and CAD drafters/technicians

• Strong independent thought and decision-making abilities
• Adept in establishing and maintaining strong and positive working relationships with clients/public-agency personnel, and in-house staff
