Traffic Engineer, Signal Division Lead – Hands-On. Business-Minded

Your Location: Ideally, you live within 30-40 miles of Pittsburg, KS/Joplin, MO area.

About Our Client

CDL Electric is a respected electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and infrastructure company that has been around for over 50 years and operates in 33 states. It is based in Pittsburg, KS, and proudly does things right—with straight talk, solid craftsmanship, and people you can count on. They believe in hard work, good pay, and building a team that feels like family.

Why This Role Matters

They're not looking for just another installer. They're looking for a hands-on leader who knows traffic signals inside and out—someone ready to lead a team, train others, and grow a part of the business that’s already strong but has huge room to expand. You’ll run jobs, lead a crew, and work directly with cities, counties, and contractors. But more than that, you’ll help CDL land new accounts, enter new towns, and build long-term partnerships. And when you do, you'll get paid, not just for your time, but for your impact.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead a 3-person traffic signal crew on installs, maintenance, and upgrades
  • Install poles, cabinets, conduit, wiring, and signal heads—start to finish
  • Train and mentor your team so we can take on more work with confidence
  • Build relationships with local city engineers and public works contacts
  • Respond to and help win RFPs, bids, and ongoing maintenance work
  • Track down opportunities—towns that need help but don’t know who to call
  • Maintain a clean safety record and complete work the right way, every time
Who You Are
  • Master-level signal installer with deep knowledge of NEC, MUTCD, and DOT work
  • A natural leader who can teach, motivate, and hold a team to high standards
  • Someone who sees opportunity and isn’t afraid to go after it
  • Can read prints, run a bucket, operate trenchers, and work in the elements
  • Organized, dependable, and not afraid to talk to city officials or inspectors
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred or willing to get it
What You Get
  • Base Salary: $100,000–$115,000 (depending on experience & skills & past performance)

Performance Bonus: Up to $20,000/year, paid for real achievements like:

  • Landing new city/county clients
  • Signing maintenance contracts
  • Winning bids

Do the work. Hit the mark. Get paid.

  • Company truck or allowance
  • Full benefits: health, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and paid holidays
  • CDL-paid training and certifications
  • A team that’s got your back and a company that rewards builders
This Is Your Division to Build

If you’re tired of punching the clock and ready to lead a crew, grow a business, and earn like an owner, we want to talk to you.
