Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber seeks a Traffic Engineer in Farmington Hills, MI. The role focuses on traffic impact studies, safety analysis, signal optimization, and forecasting to support MDOT and local agencies.

You’ll model interactions in traffic software, develop MOT plans, and contribute to proposals and budgets. The position requires a BS in Civil Engineering and 2+ years of related experience, with proficiency in HCS/Synchro/Vissim and MicroStation.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
• 2+ years of experience in traffic engineering.
• Experience with ITE Trip Generation Manual and traffic studies.
• Preferred knowledge of MDOT traffic standards and guidelines.
• Experience with the listed software tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform traffic impact and safety studies; optimize signals.
• Model intersections and roadways for capacity and operations.
• Develop MOT plans and support design of traffic signals.
• Prepare reports and communicate findings with clients and agencies.

Position

Traffic Engineer

Location

Farmington Hills, MI

Primary Functions

• Traffic impact studies, safety studies, signal optimization, and traffic forecasting.
• Intersection and roadway traffic modeling.
• Roundabout analysis and geometric evaluation.
• Develop MOT plans utilizing Traffic Data.
• Report writing.
• Assist with traffic signal design and operations.
• Interact with our clients; MDOT, local agencies, other consulting companies, and contractors.
• Assist in developing project budgets/schedules.
• Assist in developing technical proposals.
• Manage tasks and mentor staff.
• Assist with traffic engineering tasks working with transportation staff in other Fishbeck offices and with peers in the industry.

Desired Education

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

Desired Skills/Experience

• 2+ years of experience.

Minimum Physical Requirements

Occasionally exposed to light lifting, sitting, and walking. Will perform duties in the field and will be required to access and maneuver around project sites and use a computer. Capable of traveling to and from projects is required. Ability to use equipment for communication and documentation purposes. Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
