Traffic Design Engineer (2-5 years) - St. Louis, Missouri

Garver is seeking a highly motivated Traffic Design Engineer for our St. Louis, MO office to join our growing traffic and transportation planning team. The ideal candidate would have 2-5 years of related experience, a strong technical background, and a passion for the profession. This position offers an opportunity to play a key role in designing projects for our DOT and municipal clients across our service footprint.

Applicants must possess excellent problem-solving skills and be committed to contributing to this highly technical and productive design team. The position will be supervised by a Senior Project Manager and offers significant growth and career advancement opportunities.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing intersection improvement plans
• Preparing traffic signal plans
• Preparing ITS plans
• Preparing signing and pavement marking plans
• Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and communicating concepts to clients

Additional duties include:

• Assisting with project management, including scope, fees, and progress monitoring
• Preparing project proposals and participating in project pursuits
• Client marketing and relationship development within our service area
• Mentoring less experienced staff

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program
• 2-5 years of experience with traffic-specific projects
• Proficiency in MicroStation
• Excellent organization, attention to detail, and communication skills
• EI/EIT certification or ability to obtain within 1 year
• Knowledge of MUTCD and FHWA Sign Book
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with OpenRoads, SignCAD, and AutoTurn
• Experience with fiber optic communication systems
• Experience in developing Systems Engineering and Concept of Operation reports
• Experience in marketing and managing local government projects
• Experience working with State Departments of Transportation and municipalities
