WD Wright Contracting is hiring a Traffic Controller in Wilmington, North Carolina. The successful candidate will ensure automotive and pedestrian safety around construction sites by setting up traffic controls and maintaining a secure work environment.
This role requires the ability to work outside in all weather conditions, lift 50 pounds, and possess excellent communication skills. Certification in basic traffic safety techniques is mandatory, as well as passing a drug test prior to employment.
The Traffic Controller works with construction teams to ensure automobiles and pedestrians do not interfere with, or pose a danger to, laborers and their projects. Candidates must become certified in basic traffic safety techniques by attending a training class provided by the company. The Traffic Controller must create a safe work zone that ensures traffic does not cause a threat to the workers. This involves setting up cones and barriers that show traffic where to drive, as well as holding up signs that tell traffic to either stop or to proceed slowly. Traffic Controllers must constantly be aware of both the construction and traffic activity taking place around them. Compliance with all safety regulations is mandatory.
