WD Wright Contracting is seeking a Traffic Controller in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The role involves setting up and maintaining safe work zones for construction projects, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and using effective communication skills.
The ideal candidate should be physically capable of performing all necessary duties, able to work in varying weather conditions, and must possess a valid driver's license. A drug-free status is required, and all candidates must be 18 years or older.
The Traffic Controller works with construction teams to ensure automobiles and pedestrians do not interfere with, or pose a danger to, laborers and their projects. Candidates must become certified in basic traffic safety techniques by attending a training class provided by the company. The Traffic Controller must create a safe work zone that ensures traffic does not cause a threat to the workers. This involves setting up cones and barriers that show traffic where to drive, as well as holding up signs that tell traffic to either stop or to proceed slowly. Traffic Controllers must constantly be aware of both the construction and traffic activity taking place around them. Compliance with all safety regulations is mandatory.
