Helix Traffic Solutions, LLC is seeking a Traffic Control Apprentice to help maintain safe traffic flow around construction zones in North Carolina. You will be trained in traffic control procedures and PPE while supporting the frontline safety of workers, motorists, and pedestrians.

Qualifications

• Outdoor work environment in varying weather conditions.
• Stand/walk 8+ hours, lift up to 50 lbs.
• Learn and follow traffic control procedures and safety regulations.
• Clear, professional communication with drivers and team members.
• Work effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
• Maintain focus near active roadways and moving vehicles.
• Be punctual and dependable at job sites.
• Pre-employment drug screening is required.
• Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Training & Certification: Traffic Control/Flagger Certification provided by the company; previous experience not required.

Responsibilities

• Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic around work zones using handheld signs, paddles, or flags.
• Set up, maintain, and remove temporary traffic control zones with signs, barricades, and cones.
• Communicate clearly with drivers to guide traffic and ensure safety.
• Monitor traffic and construction activity to anticipate hazards.
• Coordinate with supervisors using hand signals, radios, or other equipment.
• Adhere to safety protocols including PPE.
• Warn workers when drivers fail to heed signals.
• Assist with loading/unloading traffic control equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
