Job summary

Helix Traffic Solutions, LLC is seeking a motivated Traffic Control Apprentice to help manage traffic around construction zones and protect workers, drivers, and pedestrians. No prior traffic control experience is required, as we provide Traffic Control/Flagger Certification during orientation.

Starting pay is $20.00 per hour with a $250 retention bonus, paid after milestones. You will set up and manage temporary zones, communicate with drivers, monitor traffic, and coordinate with the team to

Qualifications

• Team player with ability to work in a safety-focused environment.
• Understand and apply safe traffic control practices, including signaling and PPE usage.
• Ability to receive and communicate instructions clearly, firmly and courteously.
• Strong attention to detail and focus.
• Full-time availability due to shift times changing daily.
• Able to stand 8+ hours and remain alert.
• Must pass drug screen for all substances including THC.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Able to work in all weather conditions.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Traffic control/ Flagger Certification provided by the company at orientation.

Responsibilities

• Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic around work zones using signs, paddles, or flags.
• Set up, maintain, and remove temporary traffic control zones per project rules.
• Communicate clearly with drivers to provide guidance and ensure safe flow of traffic.
• Monitor traffic and construction activity to anticipate safety hazards.
• Coordinate with supervisors and team members using signals or radios.
• Adhere to safety protocols and wear PPE.
• Warn workers when signals are ignored by vehicles.
• Assist with loading/unloading traffic control equipment as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
