Stewards, in partnership with the National Parks Service, is thrilled to offer an opportunity for hands on preservation at Cape Lookout National Seashore. Members will gain experiences that will broaden their historic preservation, cultural resources, and park infrastructure skills. Members will receive introductory training that provides participants with marketable skills and excellent exposure to the historic preservation career field within the National Park Service, as well as the private sector.
Project focuses will be on carpentry, wood window restoration and fabrication, door removal and installation, staining and finishes, and trim work. Additional learning involving building foundation work, raising a building for piling installation, and common historic preservation techniques will be gained. The ideal candidate is excited about hands‑on trades work and should be able to demonstrate or discuss their interest in the historic preservation field. TTAP members must be able to commit to a 26‑week term.
